What we do

Sound Hearing & Audiology is an independent, doctor-led audiology and speech-language practice in Jericho, NY, serving Long Island since 1977. The practice cares for patients of every age, from children working on early speech sounds to adults adjusting to hearing loss, tinnitus, or changes in voice.

On the hearing side, the practice provides comprehensive hearing evaluations, hearing aid fittings verified with Real Ear Measurement, hearing aid repair for all major brands, and evidence-based tinnitus care. On the speech-language side, it evaluates and treats articulation, expressive and receptive language, voice, and fluency for children and adults. Because both disciplines live under one roof, what a patient hears and how they communicate are treated as one connected story rather than two separate referrals.

The approach is unhurried and diagnostic first. Fittings include a 45-day adjustment period, follow-up visits, and aural rehabilitation, and the practice does not recommend treatment unless it is the right time for it.

Our team

  • Dr. Robin Zeller, Ph.D., CCC-A/SLP. Founder; Audiologist and Speech-Language Pathologist. In practice on Long Island since 1977. Trained across all three disciplines: audiology, speech-language pathology, and deaf education. Holds a Ph.D. in Hearing and Speech Sciences from CUNY (1987), is ASHA certified (CCC-A/SLP), and is a NY State Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Leads the practice’s speech-language evaluations.
  • Dr. Andrew Engelhardt, Au.D.. Doctor of Audiology. Born with progressive hearing loss and once Dr. Zeller’s patient, now her colleague. A bilateral hearing aid wearer since childhood and a cochlear implant user, he brings a patient’s-eye perspective to every evaluation, fitting, and adjustment. Focuses on adult hearing aid fittings and Real Ear Measurement verification.

Hearing services

  • Hearing aid fittings: REM-verified fittings across major brands. Hear clearly on day one.
  • Hearing evaluation: A thorough baseline: pure-tone, speech-in-noise, and middle-ear measurement.
  • Tinnitus treatment: Structured assessment plus evidence-backed sound therapy and counseling.
  • Hearing aid repair: Most repairs done in 15 minutes: reprogramming, domes, filters, batteries.

  • Speech-language evaluation: Articulation, language, voice, and fluency, for children and adults.

Hearing aid brands

The practice fits, services, and repairs hearing aids from all major manufacturers: Oticon, Starkey, ReSound, Widex. Every hearing aid fitting is verified with Real Ear Measurement, and the practice repairs devices from every major manufacturer regardless of where they were purchased.
